Job summary

Apollo Solutions is seeking a Senior Desktop Engineer in Boston to design, deploy, and optimize modern Windows endpoints and virtual desktop environments. You will own AVD, Intune, Autopilot, and Entra ID initiatives, building automation to streamline operations and improve end‑user experiences.

The role focuses on cloud‑first, AI‑enabled workplace modernization, with strong hands‑on requirements and collaboration with Security and Infrastructure teams. Hybrid onsite work is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Desktop Engineering, Endpoint Engineering, EUC Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and/or enterprise VDI technologies.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Intune, Endpoint Manager, and Windows Autopilot.
• Deep understanding of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory, Conditional Access, MFA, and identity management.
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
• Experience building automation solutions using Power Automate.
• Experience managing Windows endpoint compliance, patching, security baselines, and device lifecycle management.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across endpoint, identity, cloud, and virtual desktop technologies.
• Experience working in enterprise‑scale environments supporting critical business functions.
• Experience supporting or implementing Microsoft Copilot initiatives within a corporate environment.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, deploy, maintain, and optimise Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and VDI environments.
• Design and support virtual desktop infrastructure, including image management, application delivery, profile management, and performance optimisation.
• Engineer and maintain Microsoft Intune, Endpoint Manager, and Windows Autopilot solutions.
• Administer and enhance Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, Conditional Access, MFA, and identity lifecycle processes.
• Design and implement endpoint security, compliance, patching, and device management policies.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell automation to streamline operational processes and improve platform reliability.
• Build workflow automation solutions using Power Automate, Microsoft Graph, and Microsoft 365 technologies.
• Support and administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive.
• Partner with business stakeholders to identify manual processes and develop automation solutions that improve productivity and user experience.
• Support the deployment, governance, and adoption of Microsoft Copilot and AI‑enabled workplace technologies.
• Build and enhance AI‑powered workplace solutions, including intelligent workflows, self‑service capabilities, and internal productivity tools.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across AVD, Microsoft 365, Intune, identity, networking, and endpoint platforms.

Our client, a leading investment firm, is seeking a Senior Desktop Engineer to help design, engineer, and evolve its modern digital workplace environment.

This is a highly technical, hands‑on role sitting within the Workplace Technology team, focused on endpoint engineering, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Microsoft Intune, Microsoft 365, identity management, automation, and workplace modernisation initiatives.

The successful candidate will play a key role in improving the employee experience through automation, cloud‑first technologies, virtual desktop platforms, and AI‑powered workplace solutions. Alongside ownership of core desktop engineering technologies, this individual will help identify opportunities to eliminate manual processes, improve operational efficiency, and support the adoption of Microsoft Copilot and other emerging workplace technologies.
