Job summary

Apollo Solutions is looking for a Senior Desktop Engineer to design, implement, and support a modern digital workplace. You will engineer and optimize VDI/AVD environments, manage Intune and Autopilot, and strengthen identity and security across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Desktop/Endpoint/EUC/Infrastructure Engineering.
• Hands-on with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and enterprise VDI technologies.

• Deep understanding of Entra ID (Azure AD), AD, CA, MFA, and identity management.

Location: Boston, MA (Hybrid, 1/2 days onsite)

My client, a leading investment firm, is seeking a Senior Desktop Engineer to help design, engineer, and support its modern digital workplace environment.

This is a highly technical, hands on engineering role focused on Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)/VDI, Microsoft Intune, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, endpoint engineering, automation, and workplace modernization initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for improving the firm's end user computing platform through automation, security enhancements, virtual desktop technologies, and cloud first solutions.

The ideal candidate will have experience engineering enterprise VDI/AVD environments, modern endpoint management platforms, identity solutions, and automation frameworks while helping drive adoption of technologies such as Microsoft Copilot and Power Automate.

Key Responsibilities

• Engineer, deploy, maintain, and optimize VDI/Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments.
• Design and support VDI infrastructure, including image management, application delivery, profile management, and performance optimization.
• Engineer and maintain Microsoft Intune, Endpoint Manager, and Windows Autopilot solutions.
• Administer and enhance Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, Conditional Access, MFA, and identity lifecycle processes.
• Design and implement endpoint security, compliance, and device management policies.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell automation to streamline operational processes and improve platform reliability.
• Build workflow automation solutions using Power Automate and Microsoft Graph.
• Support and administer Microsoft 365 technologies including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive.
• Participate in the deployment, governance, and adoption of Microsoft Copilot and related AI workplace technologies.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across VDI/AVD, Microsoft 365, Intune, identity, networking, and endpoint platforms.
• Partner with Infrastructure, Security, and Application teams to deliver digital workplace and modernization initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvement through automation, monitoring, performance tuning, and proactive remediation.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Desktop Engineering, Endpoint Engineering, EUC Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and/or enterprise VDI technologies.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Intune, Endpoint Manager, and Windows Autopilot.
• Deep understanding of Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory, Conditional Access, MFA, and identity management.
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
• Experience building automation solutions using Power Automate.
• Experience managing Windows endpoint compliance, patching, security baselines, and device lifecycle management.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across endpoint, identity, cloud, and virtual desktop technologies.
• Experience working in enterprise‑scale environments supporting critical business functions.
