Job summary

Barnhart Energy Company is seeking a Designer to develop specialized equipment designs for the heavy lift and transport sector. You will oversee prototype development, testing, and continuous improvement until designs are production-ready.

You will create complete equipment packages, perform design calculations, and generate all necessary drawings and BOMs. Occasional site visits to fabrication facilities and testing sites are expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mechanical design or equipment design experience.
• Strong understanding of fabrication methods and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to perform design calculations and validate assumptions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design equipment and tooling solutions for heavy lift projects across North America.
• Develop complete designs from concept to production readiness.
• Create CAD models and fabrication drawings with BOMs.
• Perform design calculations and validate design decisions.
• Develop detailed 3D models, assembly and installation drawings.
• Generate and maintain Bills of Materials for all designs.
• Create comprehensive Equipment Packages with docs and specs.
• Evaluate prototype performance and implement improvements.
• Support fabrication by resolving design issues during manufacturing.
• Collaborate with suppliers to source components.
• Comply with industry and drafting standards.
• Participate in load testing and field evaluations.
