Job summary

Barnhart is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead the design of custom rigging equipment and structural systems for heavy lift projects. You will drive planning, design, and implementation while ensuring safety, compliance, and project deliverables.

The role involves mentoring junior engineers, driving continuous improvement, and delivering innovative solutions that enhance efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness in crane and rigging design.

Qualifications

• Create design packages with fabrication drawings, calculations, specs, manuals, test certificates.
• Understand industry regulations (AISC/ASME/OSHA) and ensure compliance.
• Coordinate with project managers, operators, and fabricators to align on specs.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed design packages with drawings, calculations, and specs.
• Perform steel design and structural analysis tasks.
• Develop and review design parameters for clarity and customer communication.
• Create 3D models and technical drawings for equipment assemblies.
• Prepare operating instructions and maintenance requirements for new equipment.
• Develop and review load-case calculations to support design.
