Job summary

BARNHART is seeking a Level I Drafter to support engineers in designing specialty equipment for heavy lift and transport across North America. You will learn hands-on while contributing to the design process and project success.

This entry-level role emphasizes collaboration with field personnel and engineers, development of CAD models and drawings, and adherence to drawing standards. Travel to job sites may be required and pre-employment assessments will be completed.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of qualifying CAD experience.
• MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting.
• Experience with at least one CAD package (Inventor/AutoCAD preferred; SolidWorks/Creo acceptable).
• Strong communication and teamwork; ability to update drawings and documents per revisions.
• Willingness to visit job sites and work outdoors in potentially hazardous environments.
• Must pass pre-employment assessments.

Responsibilities

• Support engineers in designing and documenting equipment for heavy lift projects across North America.
• Prepare preliminary and final CAD models and fabrication drawings; assist fabrication.
• Help with load testing documentation and related drawings.
• Develop equipment documentation packages for project engineers and field personnel.
• Learn Barnhart drawing standards (ASME) and apply to designs.
• Assist in troubleshooting design problems with engineers.
