Job summary

ENTRUST Solutions Group, a Leidos company, seeks a Sr. Design Technician to support electric distribution design projects powering communities.

You will perform field data collection, develop overhead/underground layouts, and prepare construction drawings and materials lists. You will mentor junior technicians, manage multiple projects to meet quality and schedule targets, and ensure compliance with RUS, NESC, and regulatory requirements while collaborating with engineers and field crews.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years in a design technician/engineering technician/utility design role.
• Foundational experience in utility distribution network design, overhead/underground layouts, pole line design.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar drafting/design software.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and utility standards.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Client-facing experience and strong communication skills.
• Willingness to travel for fielding assignments; mileage reimbursed.

Responsibilities

• Perform field visits to collect data on utility poles and electrical infrastructure.
• Design overhead and underground electric distribution systems; prepare construction drawings and BOMs.
• Provide calculations (pole loading, voltage drop, permitting requirements) and cost estimation.
• Conduct pole analysis modeling, GIS reviews, and prepare/update design prints.
• Lead junior technicians through data collection, drafting, and design standards.
• Manage multiple projects, ensuring quality, schedule, and client expectations.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and field crews; participate in walkdowns and coordination meetings.
