Job summary

Expedia Group is seeking a senior engineering leader to mentor teams responsible for the design system, ensuring technical excellence and scalable, accessible solutions across products. You will guide architecture decisions and collaborate with product, design, and engineering stakeholders to drive outcomes.

The role requires 8+ years of experience and strong credentials in system design, API design, and data modeling, with experience leading multi-service platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of relevant professional experience and 3+ years of people management experience.
• Experience owning technical direction and delivery across a multi-service platform, shared capability, or technical domain.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, system design, low-level design, API design, data modeling, testing, observability, and production operations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, manage technical execution across teams, and translate business and customer needs into engineering outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop engineering teams responsible for Expedia Group’s design system, fostering technical excellence, accountability, and continuous growth.
• Define and execute the technical strategy for reusable design-system capabilities that improve consistency, accessibility, developer productivity, and customer experiences across products.
• Guide architecture and implementation decisions across system design, low-level design, API design, data modeling, and integration patterns for services and shared components.
• Partner with product, design, accessibility, and engineering stakeholders to establish priorities, align roadmaps, and deliver scalable solutions across multiple domains.
• Establish engineering practices that strengthen reliability, quality, security, observability and operational excellence for design-system platforms and services.
• Safely integrate and operate AI/ML-enabled solutions that improve outcomes, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real-world products.
