Job summary

Indy is seeking a Design Management Engineer to oversee design activities for transportation, environmental, traffic and stormwater projects in Marion County.

You will interpret design specifications, prepare schedules, monitor budgets, and ensure work complies with current statutes, ordinances, specifications and contract requirements.

This role may involve fieldwork, outdoor conditions and collaboration with City, State and FHWA teams, requiring strong written and oral communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant work experience in design management for transportation infrastructure.
• Strong written and oral communication and ability to manage conflicts.

Job description

Position responsible for overseeing projects in the design management section and providing technical engineering assistance related to design management activities for transportation, environmental, traffic and stormwater projects throughout Marion County.Design management of local, federal, multi-modal, transportation, structural, and stormwater projects.

Design specification and plan interpretation, scheduling, and planning related to infrastructure projects.

Ensures that all design management activity is performed on schedule, within budgetary limits, and in accordance with current statutes, ordinances, specifications and contract requirements.

Technical degree/certification or five plus (5+) years of related work experience required. Possession of Professional Engineer license in the state of Indiana is preferred, but not required. The position requires extensive knowledge of City, State, and FHWA policies and specifications as they relate to construction of City infrastructure. The position requires excellent oral and written skills in addition to excellent conflict resolution skills.

Duties performed in a standard office environment, outdoors, and in a vehicle, involving standing/walking, walking on uneven terrain, close and far vision, reaching, bending at waist, and exposure to varying weather conditions and physical hazards normally associated with construction sites.
