Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield in Hartford, CT seeks a Project Design Manager to lead a design team across assignments, implementing workplace standards and delivering designs through construction. The role emphasizes strong leadership, project scheduling, budgets, and collaboration with internal and external partners.

You will mentor designers, oversee space planning, FF&E selections, and documentation while ensuring compliance with codes and client goals. Hybrid or remote work options are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design from a CIDA/NAAB accredited program.
• 4+ years of professional design experience.
• 4+ years of Revit experience in a professional setting.
• Proficiency in architectural drawings, concepts and design.
• Strong time management and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Ability to lead a team and delegate work to enable independent work.
• Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of design professionals from sketch to construction start.
• Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, standards, varying complexity of projects, and resource allocation.
• Support Project Designers in quality review of design deliverables.
• Ensure that new processes and design standards are communicated to Project Designers and implemented within documentation.
• Review preliminary space plans and design concepts for safety, functionality and code compliance.
• Review furniture, fixtures, equipment and millwork selections to meet client requirements.
• Provide on-going training to team on space planning, design, program management and FF&E services.
• Develop client workplace standards and pursue continued improvements to the client workplace design.
• Contribute knowledge of space planning, finishes, lighting, acoustics, ergonomics and human environmental behavior.
• Perform conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning and construction documentation.
• Oversee third-party relationships with architects, engineers, etc.
• Provide FF&E vendor knowledge to the team.
