Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Senior Design Phase Manager to lead the design team, translate the owner’s vision into design and construction parameters, and ensure a smooth transition to construction. The role may involve multiple projects and requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

The position emphasizes accountability for scope, budget, and milestones, with a focus on delivering design-build excellence and risk mitigation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of related experience in construction or design management.
• Strong risk management and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and project management software.

Responsibilities

• Lead design phase teams to align with owner goals and project budget.
• Ensure schedule, scope, and budget alignment and readiness for construction.
• Develop budgets, tracking logs, and milestones.
• Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, and trades.
• Obtain regulatory approvals and permits.
• Mentor design phase team members and foster collaboration.
• Prepare and present project proposals.
• Address design and specification issues proactively.
• Ensure compliance with EEO policies and inclusive practices.
