Mortenson is seeking an experienced Design Phase Manager II to lead the design process across projects, coordinating owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners. You will guide scope, schedule, and budget while ensuring regulatory compliance and a smooth transition to construction operations.

The role emphasizes leadership, proactive problem-solving, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with confidentiality and professionalism across various staff levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a construction-related field.
• Eight years of relevant experience or more.
• Strong teamwork orientation and leadership abilities.
• Detail-oriented with multi-tasking capability.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and project management tools.

Responsibilities

• Overall project leadership during the design phase ensuring customer experience, financial performance, schedule, estimating, design and planning.
• Lead the project team to achieve scope and budget alignment and construction readiness.
• Establish and manage project budget and scope; track budget trends and communications.
• Create and supervise project schedules and key milestones; hold team accountable for goals.
• Ensure regulatory approvals and permits are obtained; align design documents with execution plan.
• Manage bid packages and contract manuals; resolve design and specification concerns.
• Develop project margin plan and coordinate owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners.
• Monitor and measure project success factors for customers and Mortenson team.
• Mentor design phase team members and foster diversity and inclusion.
