Job summary

Gensler is seeking a Design Manager in San Antonio, TX, to lead Critical Facilities projects through all phases. You will act as the main client contact, mentoring junior staff to ensure top-notch design and client satisfaction.

You will manage relationships, project delivery, and team coordination, while supporting new business and ensuring alignment with budgets and timelines. This in-person role emphasizes excellence in service and design leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Architecture or Interior Design.
• 10+ years of relevant experience, with mix of architecture and project management preferred.
• Professional license or certification preferred, but not required.
• Experience with the full project lifecycle.
• High level of design competence with knowledge of building codes.
• Proven ability to provide excellent client service and account leadership.
• Be proactive and adaptable with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Critical facilities experience preferred, but not required.
• Experience managing consultant teams and resolving complex technical and design issues.

Responsibilities

• Develop and nurture positive relationships with existing client contacts, optimizing all potential opportunities.
• Maintain awareness of clients' objectives and market trends to identify opportunities for Gensler services.
• Oversee day-to-day delivery of projects to ensure on-time and on-budget completion.
• Lead and facilitate the cross-functional project team.
• Ensure clear requirements, deliverables, timelines, and visibility against fees throughout the project life cycle.
• Prepare and monitor project work plans, budgets and deliverables for client and internal teams.
• Review proposals, contracts and consultant agreements.
• Coordinate client, team and project activities with consultants across disciplines.
• Proactively own problems and develop resolution plans with leadership.
• Support new business development with current and potential clients.
• Contribute to project reports and staffing meetings to improve delivery and financials.
• Review internal accounting documents and draft project billing.
• Collaborate with Design Director and marketing to document the project story and arrange photography.
