Job summary

Justrite Safety Group in Mattoon, IL is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to drive mechanical design and manufacturing documentation for fabricated sheet metal cabinets and accessories.

You will partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Product Management, Supply Chain, and Regulatory to support new product development (NPD) and sustaining engineering, ensuring manufacturability, cost targets, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 6+ years of product design experience in manufactured goods, preferably metal.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and 2D drawings.
• Working knowledge of GD&T and documentation for production release.
• Experience collaborating with manufacturing teams on prototypes and production support.
• Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on factory experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop fabricated sheet metal cabinet products from concept through production release.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and specifications with configuration control.
• Drive design-for-manufacture improvements across fabrication, welding, finishing, and assembly.
