Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Decatur, IL seeks a Senior Design Engineer to support the Drivetrain Platform Team across large mining and off-highway applications.

You will own design control for transmissions, torque converters, gearboxes, and axles, coordinating with manufacturing and suppliers to drive improvements and new product introductions. The role requires CAD leadership in Creo/Teamcenter, strong problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while working onsite in IL five days

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with CAD tools and product design processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate design changes to process partners through Content Definition and Design Reviews.
• Provide factory support for Assurance of Supply issues as first engineering contact.
• Work with factory personnel to resolve BIQ and NPI issues.
• Maintain a dashboard with BIQ issues and resolution status.
• Manage large assemblies in Creo and Teamcenter.
• Release engine arrangements and other platform-owned drawings.
• Investigate current production issues (CPI).
• Deploy product robustness initiatives (AM Growth).
• Evaluate parts resourcing and cost reduction projects.
• Manage design control requests.
