Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Design Engineering Specialist to lead projects in the Integrated Drivetrain Energy Solutions (IDES) Division for Large Mining Truck, Off Highway Truck, and Wheel Tractor Scraper products. You will provide design, validation, and supplier guidance to execute a portfolio of projects.

The role emphasizes design leadership, detailed design, development testing, and collaboration with suppliers to drive safety, quality, velocity, and cost improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering or Materials Science curriculum is required.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities are essential.
• Experience with design, validation, and project leadership is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop design parameters, performance characteristics, and technical specifications.
• Guide evolution of technical design, project planning, and testing; participate in supplier selection.
• Monitor new technologies and conduct testing for product/process improvements.
• Construct and fabricate prototype equipment; oversee materials selection and reliability testing.
