Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria, IL seeks a Senior Design Engineer to craft drivetrain structural and cast components. You will lead design efforts from concept through production, with emphasis on FMEAs, validation planning, and supplier collaboration.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of related experience, Creo modeling expertise, and a background in cast/forged parts, DFMEAs, APQP, and PPAPs. Onsite role; relocation available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Agricultural, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering is required.
• Top candidates have 5+ years of job-related experience.
• Proficient in Creo modeling and stress analysis.
• Experience designing cast and/or forged components.
• Demonstrated use of DFMEAs, APQP, and PPAPs.

Responsibilities

• Creating new designs that meet all technical and business requirements.
• Completing Design FMEAs and Technical Reviews to establish risk and validation plans.
• Coordinating analysis activities to evaluate new designs.
• Working with suppliers and purchasing teams on sourcing parts.
• Provide technical assessment to resolve production part quality issues.
• Assess if part nonconformances are acceptable for use.
• Provide engineering support to local assembly facility.
• Participate in APQP activities.
