Job summary

Chromalloy is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead development teams for gas turbine components from concept to repair. You will collaborate with SMEs, Manufacturing, Powerplant, and Project Engineers to align technical requirements, schedules, and cost while maintaining design integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (required).
• 8+ years of experience leading technical development for high-temperature gas turbine applications.
• Deep expertise in gas turbine design and manufacturing: casting, joining, machining, coating.
• LM2500 or LM6000 engine/component design experience preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills with ability to influence cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in Siemens NX, Microsoft Project, and statistical tools such as Six Sigma and Minitab.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Drive Technical Excellence: Lead design and development of turbine, compressor, and combustor components to deliver manufacturable, cost-aware solutions.
• Provide Strategic Project Leadership: Define milestones, support work-scope estimates, and guide teams from concept through production.
• Apply Engineering Expertise: Use advanced analysis to support new product development and repair strategies.
• Collaborate to Innovate: Work with chiefs engineers, SMEs, manufacturing, Powerplant, and Project Engineers to solve technical challenges.
• Document and Communicate: Capture requirements, progress, decisions, and results in reports and presentations.
• Drive Manufacturing Impact: Champion lean problem-solving; ensure designs are manufacturable and sustainable.
• Support the Field: Offer expert technical insight during in-field hardware reviews.
