Senior Design Engineer – Mission Critical Controls

$110,000–$125,000 | Remote

Summary: As a Senior Design Engineer, you’ll focus on the design and documentation of building automation and control systems for data centers and mission-critical facilities. This is a remote, design-centric role with minimal field involvement, centered on producing high-quality control drawings and submittal packages that support reliable, redundant operations.

Responsibilities

• Design BAS and HVAC control systems for mission-critical environments, including control schematics, network diagrams, panel layouts, and point-to-point wiring
• Translate mechanical and electrical drawings and sequences of operation into complete automation design packages
• Develop and review control submittals, device schedules, and bills of material using AutoCAD and/or MS Visio
• Engineer BAS architectures using BACnet, Modbus, and IP-based networks with redundancy and resiliency in mind
• Perform QA/QC reviews of design documents and as-built drawings
• Collaborate with project, programming, and commissioning teams to support design intent and turnover
• Maintain and improve internal design standards and documentation templates

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in BAS, controls, or MEP systems design
• Strong background in AutoCAD and/or MS Visio for controls documentation
• Experience designing systems for data centers, central plants, or other mission-critical facilities
• Solid understanding of DDC architecture, control devices, and HVAC system integration
• Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, and IP-based control networks
• Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills
