Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking an experienced engineer in Lafayette, IN to contribute to large natural gas engine design for the G3500 platform. You will collaborate with marketing, performance, and design teams to drive NTI, NPI, CPI projects and maintain existing products.

The role requires a Bachelors in engineering and at least 5 years in a related field, with travel up to 15% (up to 90% during certain phases). Relocation assistance is available; sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred.
• Experience in engine design or similar engineering fields preferred.
• Ability to work across cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and validation of G3500 engine systems through NTI, NPI, CPI processes.
• Host design architecture team meetings and review sessions.
• Ensure validation activities including FMEAs are completed.
• Support engine performance development in test cells and field locations.
• Develop presentation material for reviews and TRL milestones.
• Schedule and lead engine design reviews and deep dives for milestones.
• Manage BOM and update Teamcenter engine arrangement models.
• Oversee procurement of new component designs and travel to supplier/customer sites as needed.
