Caterpillar's Large Power Systems Division in Lafayette, IN is seeking an engineer for the C175 engine platform. You will research new materials, coordinate prototype testing, and collaborate with suppliers and product teams to deliver robust designs.

Ideal candidates have a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science and hands-on diesel engine experience, plus strong analytical and communication skills to manage multiple priorities and deliver results.

Qualifications

• Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
• Top candidates will have diesel engine experience and hands-on mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Researching new materials and competitive products.
• Organizing, coordinating, and executing the building, testing, and analysis of prototypes.
• Assisting supply specialists and buyers with supplier development and supplier performance.
• Overseeing the efforts of drafting and testing specialists.
• Developing and documenting functional requirements and translating into detail design documents.
• Participating in buy-build analysis for product components.
• Participating in and supporting proposal preparation, cost estimates, and technical reports.
