Job summary

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is seeking a Senior Director, Design within its Construction & Development agency to lead design delivery across major capital projects. This role oversees architectural and engineering design processes and sets standards for conformance and innovation.

The Senior Director will manage design and design compliance, drive cross-disciplinary collaboration, and foster industry-leading solutions in a high‑profile environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction, or Project Management; Business Administration, Transportation, or related field is acceptable.
• Minimum twelve (12) years of related experience.
• Minimum eight (8) years in managing design projects or supervisory roles in a large, multi-faceted organization.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the entire design/design compliance review team.
• Fosters a culture of innovation and change in design delivery methods, technologies, and strategy.
• Provides the DSO with lessons learned and strategies to streamline design reviews and creates training opportunities across integrated project teams.
• Establishes, monitors, and/or audits the Design-Builder’s design and engineering activities for compliance with the Contract requirements and the Design-Builder’s Quality Control Plan.
