Job summary

Georgia Power Company seeks an Engineer to support the installation, commissioning, testing, maintenance, and lifecycle support of utility-owned DER field gateway solutions deployed at DER sites across Georgia. This field-focused role enables secure, scalable DER communications required for real-time DER monitoring and control through a Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS).

The engineer will perform hands-on field deployment, configuration of gateway hardware, and documentation

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/EC/Telecom or related field from ABET-accredited institution.
Minimum of 5 years of electric utility engineering or field experience.
Ability to travel frequently across Georgia to DER sites.
Hands-on field experience with installation, commissioning, maintenance or troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

Deploy DER field gateway solutions per technical requirements and standards.
End-to-end field deployment: site readiness, installation, commissioning, testing.
Assist with DERMS integration and data validation with site personnel.
Maintain accurate field records, as-built docs, and maintenance history.
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, field teams, and cybersecurity allies.
