Job summary

The Maryland Department of Human Services seeks a Deputy Director of the Office of Emergency Operations to direct statewide emergency preparation, response and recovery efforts. This leadership role manages 9 staff and coordinates with federal, state and local partners to ensure rapid, effective action during disasters.

You will develop plans, oversee COOP, conduct trainings, and communicate plans to management, shelters and facilities across DHS. Telework may be eligible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Five years of supervisory experience in disaster response or similar emergency environments.
• Experience with OSHA, CPR, shelter operations or related areas.
• Ability to work with local, state and federal partners.
• Experience using Microsoft Office to create reports and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and administer federal, state and local emergency plans for DHS and local agencies.
• Coordinate COOP updates to ensure readiness for relocation and command centers.
• Develop hazard plans and conduct risk assessments for emergencies.
• Oversee State Administrative Plan for IA in coordination with MDE.M and FEMA.
• Communicate plans and readiness to management and shelters during emergencies.
