Job summary

The City of El Paso is seeking an experienced financial operations leader to assist in developing, monitoring, and managing the City’s day‑to‑day accounting and financial operations. You will support financial reporting, payroll, AP/AR, capital assets, debt management, revenues, and budget oversight.

Under administrative direction, you will provide guidance for grants management and treasury functions, with acting authority on urgent matters as designated.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, business, public administration, finance, or related field.
• Six years of professional experience in accounting and financial management.
• Two years of management or supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor budgets, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop, monitor, and manage the City’s day‑to‑day accounting and financial operations.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements and reports.
• Coordinate with Grants and Treasury teams on audits, compliance, and reporting.
• Oversee payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger activities.
• Assist in debt management, capital assets, revenues, and expenditure oversight.
• Champion improvements to ERP/financial systems and data quality.
• Provide policy training and ensure consistent adoption across financial operations.
• Represent the Office at meetings and with external auditors as needed.
• Act in leadership capacity for urgent matters related to grants and treasury when designated.
