Job summary

University of Delaware in Newark, DE, seeks a Director of Business Operations in the College of Health Sciences. You will lead strategic and tactical college operations, oversee budgeting and financial analysis, and ensure compliance across transactions.

Responsibilities include training staff, refining processes, and providing leadership insights to the Sr. Business Officer and Dean. A strong accounting/finance background and higher-ed experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with six years related experience.
• Ability to demonstrate a high level of independent judgment, initiative and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.
• Proficient knowledge in budget preparation, analysis and financial management.
• Experience in a higher education institution preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
• Advanced proficiency with spreadsheet, database, word processing, and presentation software.
• Experience with UD financial system with report generation skills highly preferred.
• Ability to be flexible, work independently and have high accountability for a large volume of work.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently.
• Ability to analyze and interpret data and make independent decisions.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to interact with people of diverse backgrounds, skills and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead College strategic and tactical business operations with analytics and process expertise.
• Design and implement improved methods for cross-college work and career paths in administrative functions.
• Provide training for College/department users in business operations and financial monitoring.
• Serve as CHS business approver for financial, HR, and administrative transactions to ensure policy compliance.
• Review and approve personnel actions, salary and compensation changes, purchasing, reimbursements, and other processes.
• Exercise independent judgment while maintaining internal controls and safeguarding resources.
• Develop materials and maintain the College Staff Resource page and MS Teams Channel.
• Participate in development of college vision and strategic planning activities.
