Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced mission designer to own end-to-end trajectory design for national security missions. You will drive analysis, software development, and live flight operations for complex deep-space trajectories.

Responsibilities include designing high- and low-thrust maneuvers, managing delta‑V budgets, and delivering results with minimal oversight while collaborating across ATX, propulsion, systems, and operations teams.

Qualifications

• M.S. or Ph.D. in a related field with relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of astrodynamics and orbital mechanics for trajectory design.
• Experience with low- and high-thrust trajectory optimization methods.

Responsibilities

• Own Lifecycle Mission Design: drive design from requirements to flight operations.
• Design and optimize trajectories including lunar, interplanetary, and multi-body orbits.
• Fly deep space missions; perform live maneuver operations and evaluate burn performance.
• Define launch periods and mission timelines; manage trajectory-driven CONOPS.
• Maintain delta-v budgets and contribute to performance analyses and Monte Carlo studies.
