Job summary

Ameresco, Inc. is seeking a Level 3 DDC Controls Technician to lead and execute complex commercial building automation projects from installation through commissioning and closeout.

You will mentor junior technicians, coordinate with trades, and work directly with customers and project stakeholders to ensure system reliability and energy efficiency. The role requires extensive hands-on experience with DDC/BAS platforms, strong knowledge of BACnet/Modbus networks, and the ability to troubleshoot

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience with DDC controls, building automation systems, HVAC controls, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of DDC, HVAC equipment, electrical systems, networking, and building automation protocols.

Responsibilities

• Independently lead and execute DDC control system installation, programming, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and closeout for complex commercial projects.
• Interpret drawings, specifications, and sequences of operation to develop functional control solutions.
• Program and configure DDC controllers and related devices using platforms such as Reliable, Niagara, Tridium, or equivalent.
• Develop control logic and sequences to support reliability, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort.
• Perform point-to-point checkout, functional testing, startup, commissioning and performance verification.
• Troubleshoot complex controls issues involving controllers, sensors, valves, networks, and equipment interfaces.
• Coordinate with mechanical contractors, electricians, and project stakeholders to resolve deficiencies.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Technical degree, trade certification, or bachelor’s degree in electrical/mechanical engineering or controls
