Job summary

ABB Inc. in Houston seeks a Senior Project Engineer to lead DCS-related projects, working closely with customers to shape solutions and deliverables across the US and internationally.

You will coordinate with vendors, project managers, and customers, while designing, testing, and commissioning automation systems and HMIs, ensuring safety and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and 10 years of experience in Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
• At least 6 years of experience with Power Management Systems (PMS) following IEC61850 standards including integration with switch gears and MCCs.
• Experience with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and Fire and Gas Systems (FGS) following IEC61508/IEC61511.
• Experience in computer networking design/configuration, server virtualization, and VLANs.
• Experience with Cyber Security per IEC62443.
• Proven ability to lead projects, coordinating between vendors, customers, and project managers.
• Experience with alarms/historian systems, testing and commissioning DCS, and oil/gas/chemical processes.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with customers to shape and deliver solutions and drive improvements for medium-to-large complex projects.
• Resolve technical issues remotely and at customer sites in the US and abroad.
• Assist Project Managers with claims, customer specifications, and safety standards, as well as technical details, costs, and deliverables for sales proposals.
• Cost-effectively execute DCS project deliverables on time in accordance with specifications, standards, and safety requirements.
• Design, test and commission automation enclosures, control logic and HMIs with ABB or 3rd party control systems.
• Create and deliver work plans, budgets, and risk assessments for projects.
