Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Project Manager for DC renovation projects based in Sterling, VA. The role combines on-site construction management with office coordination, including submittal control, drawings updates, and coordination with superintendents, trade contractors, and design professionals.

You will drive large, high-value projects, ensure compliance with contract documents, and lead safety practices while mentoring team members and maintaining detailed project documentation.

Qualifications

• Proven project management experience in construction.
• Experience overseeing large projects (≈$15M+).
• Background in construction management and design coordination on active projects.
• Ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, specs, and submittals.
• Strong organizational skills for submittal logs and project docs.
• Commitment to safety practices and PPE use on site.
• Ability to follow instructions and take ownership of tasks.
• Strong interpersonal skills to interact with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage DC renovation projects from start to finish, aligning work with contract docs, schedule, and quality expectations.
• Update contract drawings for approved changes and coordinate trade contractor docs.
• Organize and review submittals for completeness and accuracy.
• Create and maintain a comprehensive submittal log per internal standards.
• Review shop drawings and samples for contract compliance and manage architect submittal reviews.
• Support the Project Superintendent in monitoring quality and compliance with construction docs.
• Assist with daily reports and manage progress and quality photos.
• Post safety information and ensure PPE compliance on site.
• Ensure PPE use (hard hats, safety glasses) at all times on site.
• Model safety awareness and report concerns promptly to leadership.
• Support safety initiatives per site safety plan.
• Serve as a peer coach and share best practices in project execution and safety.
• Complete all required training for the Project Manager role.
• Foster effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
