Job summary

GoIntellects Inc. is seeking a Senior DB2 Database Administrator for a DC Government client. The role is remote with in-person interview elements in Washington, DC, requiring deep IBM DB2 experience across LUW or z/OS environments.

The candidate will optimize queries, manage data models, ensure security and compliance, and collaborate with developers to deliver robust database solutions for high-volume transactional systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience.
• 4 years IT/related experience preferred.
• 10 years IBM DB2 experience preferred.
• 10 years SQL, design, and reporting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support DESTINY application team by optimizing database queries, stored procedures, packages, and triggers.
• Collaborate with developers to integrate enhancements, fixes, and new functionalities.
• Ensure releases and data model changes are synchronized with database environments.
• Maintain data integrity through validation, referential integrity, and error handling.
• Enforce database security standards, user access controls, and audit requirements per DC government policies.
• Support privacy and data protection rules applicable to DMV‑related information.
• Use DB2 monitoring tools to identify performance bottlenecks and optimize queries.
• Tune databases, memory, indexes, and storage structures for throughput.
• Assist with ongoing fixes, enhancements, and modernization efforts for the DESTINY system.
• Coordinate with OCTO infrastructure teams on server performance and network connectivity affecting DB2.
• Implement schema changes, table restructuring, indexing strategies, and partitioning as needed.
• Provide technical knowledge and support to District agencies and stakeholders.
• Interact with executive‑level users or technical experts.
• Function as SME for the product.
