Job summary
JSM Consulting Inc. is seeking a DB2 Database Administrator to support the Department of Labor's Unemployment Insurance System.
The role focuses on administering DB2 on Red Hat Linux, monitoring performance, backups, security, and high availability, with collaboration across state and cross-functional teams. You will deploy monitoring utilities, develop automation scripts, manage maintenance tasks, and respond to incidents while documenting changes and updating knowledge bases to ensure data
Qualifications
- 72+ months DB2 database administration experience on Linux environments.
Responsibilities
- Review overnight alerts and monitoring dashboards for critical issues.
- Check new service requests or incidents related to data management.
- Prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact.
- Respond to emails and messages related to data management tasks.
- Participate in daily stand-up meetings to provide progress updates.
- Document all work performed, including changes and resolutions.
- Update knowledge base articles as needed.
- Monitor DB2 performance metrics and diagnostic logs.
- Deploy and monitor DB2 monitoring utilities (IBM DMC).
- Develop scripts to automate monitoring and maintenance.
- Monitor database backup and recovery processes.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks (RUNSTATS, REORG, REORGCHK).
- Apply database patches/upgrades per change management.
- Review DB2 security settings and user access privileges.
- Monitor for unauthorized access attempts.
