Job summary

The Department of Labor seeks a Data Management Specialist to administer Db2 databases on bare-metal Red Hat Linux, monitor performance, and automate tasks. You will manage backups, security, and upgrades while reviewing logs and incidents with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities include maintenance tasks such as RUNSTATS, REORG, and patching, plus developing scripts to streamline operations and ensure data integrity across the Unemployment Insurance System.

Qualifications

• DB2 on Linux design and administration experience required.
• Strong Red Hat Linux command line, scripting, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with performance tuning, backups, and security management.
• Experience with monitoring tools and incident response in DB2/RHEL.
• Knowledge of HA/DR, and cloud services related to databases.

Responsibilities

• Administer Db2 databases on bare-metal RHEL environments.
• Monitor DB2 performance metrics and tune as needed.
• Deploy and monitor Db2 utilities including DMC.
• Develop scripts to automate monitoring and admin tasks.
• Review alerts, logs, and diagnostics to fix critical issues.
• Run RUNSTATS, REORGCHK, and REORG for maintenance.
• Apply patches and upgrades per change management.
• Oversee backup and recovery processes for data integrity.
• Review security settings and user access; monitor unauthorized activity.
• Document work and update knowledge base articles.
• Handle service requests and prioritize work based on impact.
• Participate in daily stand-up updates and report blockers.
