Job summary

Knowledge Builders Inc. seeks a skilled Data Management Specialist to support the NYSDOL Data Warehouse UISIM project, administering Db2 databases on Red Hat Linux.

The role requires strong database administration, performance tuning, security, and automation skills within a collaborative, cross-functional team environment. You will monitor, backup, and recover Db2 data, apply patches, implement HA/DR, and develop scripts to automate tasks, with daily stand-ups and artifact documentation.

Qualifications

• 72 months of DB2 database administration experience on Linux.
• 84 months of Red Hat Linux proficiency including CLI and scripting.
• 84 months of database performance tuning and optimization experience.
• 84 months of HADR for Db2 and data resilience experience.
• 60 months of GCP experience for DB deployments and IAM controls.
• 60 months of scripting and automation for DB tasks.
• 60 months of troubleshooting Db2 and RHEL in cloud/on-prem environments.
• 84 months of backup and recovery strategy experience.
• 84 months of monitoring and alerting using enterprise tools.
• 84 months of security best practices for Db2 and RHEL systems.

Responsibilities

• Administer Db2 databases on bare-metal RHEL environments.
• Monitor Db2 performance metrics and adjust configurations.
• Deploy and monitor Db2 utilities including DMC.
• Develop scripts to automate monitoring and maintenance tasks.
• Review alerts and logs to identify and resolve critical DB issues.
• Perform RUNSTATS, REORGCHK, and REORG regularly.
• Apply patches/upgrades per change management procedures.
• Verify backup and recovery processes and data integrity.
• Review security settings and user privileges; monitor for unauthorized access.
• Document changes and maintain knowledge base articles.
