Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Senior Database Reliability Engineer to design, build, and scale the company’s database platform used across applications. This role blends database expertise with software and infrastructure engineering to create reliable, secure, and scalable systems.

You will own end‑to‑end database reliability, work with multiple teams, and ship production‑quality engineering work.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software/infrastructure engineering, SRE, or platform experience.
• Strong software engineering ability in at least one production language such as Go, Python, or TypeScript.
• Proven ability to build production‑quality internal tools, libraries, frameworks, services, or platform components.
• Deep hands‑on experience with relational databases, especially MySQL/PostgreSQL, in high‑availability environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain a shared database platform used across applications.
• Establish scalable patterns for how services connect to relational databases in prod, staging, and dev.
• Collaborate with backend teams to improve database usage, including connection management and migrations.
• Build automation and internal tooling to improve database operations safety and repeatability.
• Define standards for database access, schema design, migrations, and performance.
• Architect and improve database infrastructure across AWS RDS/Aurora, read replicas, backups, and failover.
• Lead database reliability initiatives to reduce risk and enable safe scaling.
