Job summary

Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits in Dallas, TX is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to shape data strategy and architecture, building scalable data infrastructures and transformative analytics capabilities.

You will guide cross-functional teams, mentor junior members, and lead complex data engineering projects, with a focus on data quality and reliable data delivery across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Typically, 6-9+ years of experience in data management disciplines or data engineering tasks.
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and executive leadership.
• Strong experience in DevOps and Agile technology environments.
• Proven ability to lead data engineering projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Build data management systems combining core data sources into accessible structures.
• Perform data conversions, imports, and exports within and between internal and external systems.
• Develop ETL processes and SQL stored procedures to support complex business systems.
• Create data transformation processes (ETL, SQL) to support data flows.
• Maintain metadata repositories and ensure data quality and standards.
• Design and implement data reliability and performance improvements.
• Lead cross-functional data engineering initiatives and mentor team members.
