Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a highly experienced Staff Data Engineer to design, build, and scale data infrastructure. This senior IC role focuses on technical strategy, scalable pipelines, and mentoring engineers to deliver value from data.

You will lead architectural directions, collaborate with data scientists and product teams, and ensure reliable operation of data platforms across the organization.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on data engineering experience designing and implementing large-scale data systems.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience with Azure and Databricks.
• Strong data warehousing, ETL/ELT concepts, and modern data lake architectures.
• Ability to design scalable and resilient data systems from scratch.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable, reliable data pipelines and platforms.
• Mentor and coach other data engineers, promoting best practices and code quality.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and product managers to translate requirements into data solutions.
• Ensure operational health with monitoring, logging, and alerting to prevent bottlenecks and failures.
• Stay current with data engineering trends and champion new tools and approaches.
