Job summary

Resource Management Concepts, Inc. (RMC) seeks a Senior Database Engineer with deep systems programming and database engineering expertise for on-site work at a Government facility in Charleston, SC.

You will explore database internals, design relational and graph data solutions, and contribute to security-conscious software across modern stacks. The role demands hands-on C/C++/Rust, experience with PostgreSQL and Neo4j, cloud deployments, and IaC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, CS/IT or related field; typically 10+ years software engineering experience.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and Neo4j design, administration, optimization, and integration.
• Hands-on C, C++, or Rust systems programming; ability to learn additional languages.
• Experience with OS interfaces, IPC, concurrency, multithreading, signals, and memory management.
• Experience with socket-based communications, database internals, network protocols, and low-level code analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy secure, scalable applications using C, C++, Rust, Go, Java, Python, or Node.js.
• Apply systems programming to create performant software components.
• Develop software supporting process creation, monitoring, and inter-process communication.
• Build multithreaded applications with proper synchronization and memory management.
• Design and troubleshoot networked applications using sockets and client-server models.
• Trace requests through database engine code to identify processing logic and integration points.
• Develop relational SQL data storage solutions with data modeling, tuning, and access control.
• Develop and integrate graph database solutions for relationship-based data modeling and retrieval.
• Work across relational and graph databases, object storage, and search engines (PostgreSQL, Redis, RxDB, Neo4j, S3, Elasticsearch).
• Refactor and modernize services; transition functionality from Python to other languages where appropriate.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code to provision and manage infrastructure with version control.
• Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot cloud-hosted software including identity and security services.
• Integrate applications with identity providers for authentication, authorization, federation, SSO, and access control.
• Implement OpenID Connect (OIDC) integrations and secure API access.
• Incorporate Zero Trust Architecture across software designs and components.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, data, and mission stakeholders to embed security controls across SDLC.
• Produce and maintain software designs, interface specs, deployment procedures, and security documentation.
