Job summary

LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) is seeking a Senior Database Engineer for the DataScope Database Administration team. You will manage, optimize, and modernize enterprise databases across Sybase ASE, SQL Server, Oracle, and cloud environments.

You will partner with product and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable, scalable database solutions, drive automation, and lead performance improvements while supporting cloud adoption in Azure and AWS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience administering enterprise database environments, including Sybase ASE (16.x) and Azure/AWS SQL managed instances.
• Experience supporting databases on RedHat Linux platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis in complex production environments.
• Experience with SQL performance tuning, stored procedures, triggers, and database optimization.
• Experience developing automation scripts using Python, Bash, or Perl.

Responsibilities

• Review database designs with development teams for new initiatives, enhancements, and defect resolutions.
• Assess the impact of database changes across upstream and downstream systems and customer environments.
• Coordinate release planning, testing, and deployment activities for database changes.
• Design, develop, and maintain database tools, utilities, and automation solutions.
• Collaborate with QA and cross-functional teams to support database testing and troubleshooting.
• Support cloud deployments, modernization, and maintenance in Azure/AWS.
