Job summary

RSM US LLP in New York seeks an experienced Senior Database Developer for a temporary engagement to lead a critical modernization of a legacy system for a financial services client. This role focuses on analyzing existing database architecture, translating complex business logic into scalable data models, and building high-performance, auditable data structures.

You will design data models, develop new database objects, and implement governance and security controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 8–10 years of experience in SQL Server development/DBA, data modeling, and large-scale database environments (financial services preferred).
• Experience with data migration, ETL processes, and integration tools (e.g., SSIS).
• Experience implementing data controls, security, and regulatory compliance standards.
• Proven ability to design high-performance, auditable database solutions.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing database architecture and decipher complex logic.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate into scalable database solutions.
• Design and develop new data models, schemas, and database objects.
• Build and optimize tables, stored procedures, and controls for data integrity and performance.
• Implement data governance controls and regulatory compliance standards.
• Support iterative development in an Agile environment with Jira/Confluence.
• Provide mentorship on data modeling best practices.
