Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to design, implement, and manage Oracle and SQL Server databases in a remote, US-based role supporting VA-related systems. The position requires a Public Trust (MBI) clearance and 8+ years of experience.

You will install, configure, monitor, tune, backup and recover databases, enforce security, and collaborate with developers and IT staff to ensure data integrity and availability. This is a full-time, W-2 remote opportunity.

Qualifications

• Experience with Oracle and SQL Server databases.
• Experience in database design and architecture.
• Backup, recovery, and security management experience.
• Proficient in SQL, PL/SQL, and performance tuning.
• Experience with monitoring & maintenance tools.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and upgrade DBMS.
• Create and manage database objects (tables, indexes, views, procedures).
• Monitor and maintain database objects and performance.
• Develop backup and recovery strategies and run drills.
• Enforce database security policies and user access.
• Collaborate with developers and system admins to resolve issues.
• Maintain documentation of configurations and processes.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
