Job summary

eSimplicity is looking for a Database Engineer V to support the CMS National Data Warehouse. You will design, develop, and maintain data models, source-to-target mappings, and data processing systems for enterprise reporting and BI.

This remote role requires extensive SQL, data warehousing experience, and expertise in Oracle/Redshift. Work across analytics, engineering, and program stakeholders to ensure data quality, governance, and scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, IS, engineering, or related field; four years may substitute.
• 10+ years in database engineering, data warehousing, or related delivery.
• 7+ years in systems analysis in a data warehouse environment.
• Experience architecting data warehouse solutions and writing complex SQL.
• Experience with Oracle and/or Amazon Redshift DDL and structures.
• Familiar with SDLC, documentation, requirements analysis, and QA practices.

Responsibilities

• Gather information from existing systems for complex data warehouse initiatives.
• Provide guidance on database, data warehouse, and systems analysis challenges.
• Develop specifications, design logic, and documentation for design, testing, and deployment.
• Conduct gap analyses for source-system changes and data transformation logic.
• Lead data modeling efforts including relational and dimensional models.
• Maintain mapping documentation, transformation rules, and BI object definitions.
• Analyze ETL mappings and AWS Glue data flows to the warehouse.
• Manage metadata across ERwin, Oracle, Redshift, AWS Glue, and MicroStrategy.
• Create and maintain DDL scripts for Oracle and Redshift.
• Write complex SQL queries over large, multi-format datasets.
• Tune performance and recommend improvements for data handling and reporting.
• Evaluate multi-data-mart integration opportunities and communicate tradeoffs.
• Participate in QA activities and code/design reviews.
• Collaborate with teams to resolve issues and meet milestones.
• Develop and maintain data architecture standards and SDLC docs.
