Job summary

Applied Resource Group is seeking a Senior Data Analyst / Technical Business Analyst to bridge business and engineering in a Software Engineering team. You will translate complex data and business needs into clear technical requirements for data and software development, working closely with engineers throughout the lifecycle.

The role emphasizes hands-on SQL, technical documentation, and collaboration with Product, Project leadership, and QA to ensure well-defined, testable deliverables.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Technical Business Analyst or similar technical role.
• Proven ability to write technical requirements for software and data development.
• Strong SQL skills including queries, joins, filtering, and data validation.
• Experience collaborating with Software Engineering teams throughout the SDLC.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder management.
• Ability to translate business needs into actionable technical specifications.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.

Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, and document technical requirements for data and software development initiatives.
• Translate business requirements into detailed specifications for engineers and data engineers.
• Develop requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, rules, data needs, and process flows.
• Define data mappings, transformation rules, validation criteria, and system behaviors.
• Use SQL to investigate data, validate requirements, and support development efforts.
• Work with stakeholders to clarify gaps before development begins.
• Maintain documentation as requirements evolve.
