Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a senior Data Security Analyst — Master to lead enterprise security control design, implementation, and continuous improvement across data, networks, and cloud environments.

The role emphasizes hands-on work with Palo Alto Networks (Panorama, Cortex, Strata) and strong Cisco networking skills, with national remote eligibility and AOUSC Public Trust clearance requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years (or commensurate experience).
• 10+ years of progressive cybersecurity, network security, or security operations experience, including hands-on firewall administration and incident response.
• Deep expertise administering Palo Alto Networks next-gen firewalls in complex environments.
• Advanced experience with Panorama, including centralized policy administration and HA workflows.
• Strong knowledge of Strata security capabilities: App-ID, User-ID, Content-ID, decryption, segmentation.
• Experience with Cortex for detection, investigation, automation, and SOAR/EDR concepts.
• Strong Cisco networking background including VPNs, routing, switching, and high availability.
• Understanding of security frameworks (NIST, CIS, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, etc.).
• Excellent written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Architect and optimize Palo Alto firewalls across data centers, campus, and cloud environments.
• Lead centralized firewall management using Palo Alto Panorama.
• Design and maintain least-privilege security policies and controls.
• Operationalize Cortex for security analytics and incident response.
• Lead vulnerability assessments and ensure remediation of high-risk findings.
• Collaborate with SOC, Cloud, Governance, and Audit teams on security requirements.
• Mentor analysts and engineers; drive engineering standards and root-cause analysis.
• Evaluate emerging tech and threats to enhance the enterprise security roadmap.
