Job summary

Block, Inc. is seeking a Data Scientist to build, measure, and improve Risk and Support Operations across Cash App, Afterpay, Square, and future platforms. You will partner with product, engineering, and risk teams to define metrics, evaluate experiments, and turn ambiguous questions into clear decisions.

This agentic role uses AI tools and agent workflows to move faster, building pipelines, stress-testing hypotheses, and turning analysis into decisions for scalable impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in statistics, data science, economics, computer science, or a similar quantitative field.
• Graduate degree in statistics, data science, economics, computer science, or a similar quantitative field.
• Advanced proficiency with SQL and experience building clear, decision-oriented data visualizations.
• Strong product, analytical, and statistical judgment, including turning ambiguous questions into sound analyses.

Responsibilities

• Turn complex product, customer, and risk data into clear insights and durable measurement systems.
• Use AI tools and agent workflows to improve speed and quality of analytical work.
• Own end-to-end execution across analysis, metrics definition, experimentation, forecasting, visualization, and decision support.
• Define and maintain measurement frameworks for Support and Risk Operations, including forecasting and queue health.
• Partner with risk teams to evaluate model and policy performance and connect risk decisions to product impact.
• Design and analyze experiments, rollouts, and policy changes affecting customer access and product growth.
• Approach questions from first principles with statistical judgment to define cohorts and metrics.
• Communicate insights clearly to technical, product, and business stakeholders.
