Job summary

Block's Data Science team builds and measures credit products that expand customer access to financial services. You will turn data into decisions for Cash App Borrow, Afterpay, Square Loans, and other products, using AI tools and agent workflows to move faster and more rigorously.

You will own end‑to‑end analysis, define metrics, run experiments, forecast outcomes, and communicate insights to senior stakeholders, while mentoring the team and shaping technical direction for Lending data science.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in statistics, data science, economics, CS or similar quantitative field with 12+ years of experience.
• Graduate degree in statistics, data science, economics, CS or similar field with 6–8+ years of experience.
• Advanced proficiency with SQL and experience building clear, decision‑oriented data visualizations.
• Strong product, analytical, and statistical judgment and the ability to turn ambiguous questions into analyses.
• Experience using AI tools to improve the speed, quality, and durability of analytical work.

Responsibilities

• Turn complex product, customer, and risk data into clear insights and durable measurement systems.
• Use AI tools and agent workflows to improve analytical speed and quality.
• Own end‑to‑end execution across analysis, metrics, experimentation, forecasting, visualization, and decision support.
• Define and maintain measurement frameworks for credit products and user outcomes.
• Partner with risk teams to evaluate model and policy performance and connect decisions to product impact.
• Design and analyze experiments, rollouts, and policy changes affecting access and growth.
• Approach questions from first principles and define cohorts, metrics, and decision criteria.
• Communicate insights clearly to technical, product, and business stakeholders.
