Job summary

Coinbase is a remote-first, but not remote-only company. Data Science is an integral component of Coinbase’s product and decision making: we partner with Product, Engineering and Design to influence the roadmap and understand our users.

You will conduct analysis, build ML models, and own data definitions and visualizations across projects. We look for a BA/BS in a quantitative field with ≥5 years or a PhD with ≥3 years, plus hands-on SQL and Python experience.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in a quantitative field (Math, Stats, Physics or CS) with ≥5+ years of relevant experience or PhD with ≥3+ years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience driving impactful data science projects.
• Professional experience using SQL and Python.
• Experience with digital products in an iterative development cycle.

Responsibilities

• Conduct analysis and deep dives on ambiguous problems for business impact.
• Build, tune, or measure ML models and AI systems used across Coinbase.
• Own data definitions, core logging, and presentation of data visualizations.
• Guide code reviews and create well-maintained ETL jobs.
• Maintain rigorous statistics; design and execute experiments and causal analyses.
