The Zebra, headquartered in Austin, TX, is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to own end-to-end data science work—from data wrangling in our warehouse to deploying models in production, with no handoffs. You’ll collaborate with Product, Engineers, and Analysts to drive outcomes and deliver impact across the product.

This role emphasizes practical, impact-oriented work with strong business sense, remote across the US, and a base salary in the $160,000–$180,000 range.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a technical data role with 3+ years hands-on ML/modeling experience.
• MS or PhD in a quantitative field is a plus but not required.
• Strong foundation in ML and statistics: regression, classification, clustering, experimental design.
• Proficient in Python and the Python data stack (scikit-learn, pandas, polars).
• Experience owning models in production — CI/CD, testing, orchestration, monitoring, retraining.
• Experience mentoring junior data scientists.

Responsibilities

• Build machine learning models to personalize our product and connect users with the policies that best fit their needs.
• Work with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business needs and develop ML-based solutions.
• Analyze product data, design experiments, and drive data sources integration.
• Write clean, production-ready code to operationalize models with best practices from software engineering.
• Perform peer code reviews and mentor other data scientists.
