Job summary

Customer.io is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to partner with Product, Marketing, and Customer Experience to guide decisions using behavioral data. The role focuses on experiments, modeling, and turning data into actionable business direction with an ownership mindset.

You will blend rigor with pragmatism, delivering clear recommendations to stakeholders and shaping the data-informed roadmap across teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a Data Science role within B2B SaaS or a growth-focused environment.
• Strong foundation in statistics, experimentation, and behavioral analytics.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for large-scale analysis, modeling, and exploration.
• Experience with modern cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery) and familiarity with dbt.
• Strong communication and stakeholder skills; ability to explain complex analysis to non-technical partners.
• Ownership mindset with ability to define problems and drive work forward.

Responsibilities

• Analyze behavioral patterns across the customer lifecycle to identify trends and opportunities.
• Design experiments and measurement approaches to evaluate product and marketing changes.
• Build models and datasets to improve segmentation, forecasting, and trend identification.
• Apply machine learning and AI techniques to solve practical problems for internal and customer-facing use cases.
• Partner with Data Engineering to improve data quality, reliability, and accessibility of metrics.
• Communicate findings clearly so teams can make informed decisions without a statistics background.
