Job summary

Textron Aviation is seeking an experienced Data Scientist Specialist to join a small, focused analytics team focused on predictive maintenance and connected aircraft solutions. You will merge large-scale sensor data, maintenance records, and parts data using machine learning, deep learning, and visualization techniques to maximize aircraft availability and optimize maintenance practices.

You will mentor junior data scientists, promote innovative data science methods, and contribute to governance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field as listed.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in data science or related analytics.
• Master’s or PhD preferred.
• Aviation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop machine learning models for classification, regression, clustering, and time-series analysis.
• Collaborate with engineers to prepare and clean data for modeling.
• Document methodologies and contribute to reproducible research practices.
• Lead data science projects and mentor junior data scientists.
• Integrate models into business processes and drive strategic initiatives.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related technical field/coursework

Master’s or PhD degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field
