Job summary

Atlas Air Worldwide is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to join the Data Analytics and Optimization team. You will develop data-driven solutions for high-dimensional aviation resource management problems, collaborating with global leaders to uncover opportunities and build predictive and prescriptive models that impact operations and strategy.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in a quantitative field (Operations Research, ML, CS, Data Science, Stats, Math).
• 5+ years of hands-on data science or analytical experience with impact.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or similar for data analysis.
• Experience with SQL, Pandas, Spark; ML libraries (scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• Strong statistical modeling, hypothesis testing, and optimization knowledge.
• Excellent communication and ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Experience shipping production-grade Python code with Git and testing.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data-driven opportunities in airline operations.
• Lead data science projects from conception to implementation with clear success metrics.
• Translate business requirements into data science deliverables and timelines.
• Design experiments to test hypotheses and measure impact.
• Process, clean, and analyze large structured and unstructured datasets.
• Develop and maintain ML and optimization models and decision-support tools.
• Create data visualizations and narratives for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Mentor junior data scientists and stay current with DS/ML trends.
